What is required to establish tax residency in Cyprus?

Individuals who stay in Cyprus for more than 183 days during a tax year are considered to have moved there and to be tax residents. The same applies to individuals who:

– do not stay in any other state for more than 183 days during a tax year,
– are not considered tax residents of any other state during the tax year,
– stay in Cyprus for at least 60 days during the tax year,
– have a permanent residence in Cyprus (owned or rented), and
– carry out business activities or are employed in Cyprus during the tax year.

Tax residents are taxed on their worldwide income in Cyprus, while non-resident taxpayers are taxed only on income sourced in Cyprus.
