In certain disputes, it may be crucial to act quickly. Even if you believe you have a strong legal claim, it may be too late if the opposing party sells assets, continues an unlawful act, or otherwise makes it difficult to enforce a future judgment.<\/p>\n

In such situations, interim measures can be an effective legal tool. The purpose is to preserve the status quo until the underlying dispute has been finally resolved by the courts.<\/p>\n

What are interim measures?<\/h2>\n

Interim measures are an expedited procedure under the Norwegian Dispute Act that makes it possible to secure a claim before ordinary court proceedings have concluded. The system is designed to prevent a party from suffering losses that cannot be remedied if one must wait for a final judgment.<\/p>\n

The Dispute Act distinguishes between two types of interim measures:<\/p>\n
